anywhere between 6 and 4 months. this will allow for accurate time to order and alter about a month before the actual wedding date. Also i reccomend that you send out the order for all the bridesmaids dresses at the same time in the same shipment. Sometimes dresses that are ordered at different times can come back in different shades and hues. This is because they are not all in the same Dye Lot. Just a word to the wise! Good Luck…..and Congrats!

You still have a lot of time, but there is no harm in looking now, you may as well start. You may have to order the dresses for the best fit and that may take some time depending on the dress you choose and how busy they are. So give yourself at least 5-6 months before the wedding to be safe. My wedding is Sept 26 09 and I only went looking for my wedding gown last Saturday! But I got it and it doesn’t need to be altered. My bridesmaid’s gowns have to be ordered and are coming in, in six weeks. But we were lucky to get them in before the wedding. Some stores I went to told me it could take up to 4 months to get all the dresses in the girl’s sizes to come in. so make sure you give yourself enough time so you aren’t rushing to find dresses, have people sized and have things ordered.

My wedding is October 17, and my bridesmaids bought their dresses this last April. I have a wedding planner, and that is about the accurate time that you should have them get them. Gives you and them enough time before and after to make some final decisions. Also, give them a heads up so they make sure they have the money for them!

They should probably buy their dresses in December then. Just in case they need alterations or anything like that. You don’t want there to be any troubles with the dresses not being ready on time. Do I’d say 6 months in advance is good.

no harm in getting them now. you’ll be surprised how long it takes you to wrangle all of your bridesmaids for their fittings. they all have to be ordered at the same time so they’re dyed the same exact color. then you gotta get the bridesmaids in for another fitting with their shoes on, so the hem is done just right and the rest of the dress is custom tailored. no one fits in a bridesmaid dress off the rack. that’s how the bridal shops make their money, off alterations. that takes another 2 mos. make sure you have their shoes picked out and they’ve all paid for them before the dresses come in because they have to wear the shoes for the alterations fitting. but they all have to go in before the dresses are ordered to find out about what size they are, all those dresses are sized different by all the different designers, it’s awful.
