A promise ring is a pre-engagment ring. Where your mostly thinking of going to be engaged but your not ready for the next step.

A promise ring shows that he is commiting himself to you and your guys’s relationship while an engagement ring means you too are going to get married.

its the same. whatever difference is not between the rings but in mind. how sincere are yr intentions and feelings, is the difference. nothing else

They are basically the same thing but people tend to use "promise" rings when they are not really ready to marry yet but want to do something nice for thier girl..
But the main difference seems to be that with an engagement ring you are actually starting to plan the wedding, setting a date and all whereas with a promise ring you are not yet planning.. and you call eachother boyfriend and girlfriend instead of fiance…

The price tag.

A promise ring is more like ‘I promise to love and care for you forever’ while a engagement says that i love you and that i want to be with you forever. Its not really a big difference.

A promise ring is for a couple that say they only want to sleep and be with each other. An engament ring is basically the same, but there is a marriage commitment behind it. Some people are now getting promise rings before getting engagement rings. When a guy says "will you marry me?" he is giving the woman an engagement ring.

The promise ring is just a promise to someday get married, while the engagement ring is the initialization of planning and preparing the wedding, or a confirmation of intent to marry

A promise ring has many different meanings depending on age, not to mention I can wear a promise ring and be single it means i promise myself i wont have sex, if you break the promise you break the ring. (Nick jonas did this when dating miley cyrus) also Promise rings are very cheap. Engagement rings also mean your going to get married and promise rings are just to show people your taken.

In ‘vocabulary’ terms, the difference between promise rings and engagement rings is clear. In jewelery terms, not so much. Engagement rings are more likely to be the solitaire diamond that’s kind of the classic (or cliche, depending on your perspective) shape, but any ring can be an engagement ring, as long as your intended will be happy to wear it for the rest of her life.
To my understanding, a "promise" ring is just that. A promise to one day get engaged. Promise rings are an engaged-to-be-engaged thing that is generally employed by the too-young-to-wed/Christian set. An engagement is the actual thing, a real commitment and carries much more weight.

Generally a promise ring is going to be around 1/10th carat (very small), the clarity will be much lower, the cost is a fraction of a typical engagement ring.
so here we got a typical promise ring its 1/5th cttw that is .15-.19 points (100 points = 1 carat). So here we’ve got 16 stones 8 on each side and then the center stone which is slightly larger. So guessing cause it doesn’t say that each side stone is 1 point, and the center is 2-3. Ok, a standard wedding band that is channel set with diamonds will be set with 4-5 pointers and that is for a 1/2 cttw and a band that is only 3mm. 4-5 pointers measure 2mm and 1mm is the width of a credit card, so that should give you an idea about the size of this ring.
