My best friend is getting married this Saturday. Throughout the planning process I have spent a lot of money, I added it up to about 0 that I don’t have. I am still in debt from borrowing from my mom for dress alterations, the dress itself and the I needed for even attending the Bachelorette party, not to mention gifts and buying drinks for the bride. My balance is .33 in my checking account. I am a substitute teacher so I don’t have consistent income. I can pay my bills…but anything more than that is incredibly tight. I got her a decor sign that says "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" to give to her on her wedding day and was planning on borrowing more money to give 0, because that is the standard wedding gift. A few people have told me that being in the wedding IS the gift for her but I feel I need to give her that money if not more because she is my best friend.

What is the standard type of gift for a Maid of Honor to give to the Bride? Do the bridal party give money or is the money the bridal party spent on the dresses, etc considered the gift? Please help!

I live outside the USA. I am getting married in May and will be home to dress shop in September. I that too early for wedding shower? The bridal party wants to have it the weekend before the wedding.

The other song I was thinking about didn’t get a good reaction from those that answered my question of whether to use Jimmy Buffett’s (Why don’t we Get Drunk?) so I have found a song that I have loved for years and thought maybe it would be great for my bridal party to dance to. What does everyone think of the song "Let’s Get Married" by Jagged Edge? no suggestions of using "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks. I love country, but it is over-used so that it is boring now. thanks for all suggestions.

I have recently found the perfect suits for the boys in our bridal party, except that one of them is somewhat hard to fit.
He said that he is a 40" or 42" Jacket and a 30" waist. The suits that we found are only sold as a whole and the 42" comes with a "36 waist (or 34" waist for the 40" Jacket).
Is it possible to alter the pants down 4-6 sizes??

I am only having about 50 guests and I want just a few 8X10′s maybe 3. And about 10 5X7′s and the rest just 4X6 for my wedding albulm. I would also want it on disk to post on Myspace. I don’t even want photos of the reception. My family will take those…Just the wedding itslef and bridal party etc.

I was in the bridal party(1 of the brides maids). On the wedding day everything was so crazy I’m supprised we all even made it. I left the wedding gift card in a bag that was in my car, when we went to the ceremony in a limo, then the reception, I realized I didn’t have the gift.
Later the next day, I found it. I figured the newlyweds were busy with he honeymoon & all so I didn’t bother calling them. 2 weeks have gone by & I almost forgot to give it to them again! I don’t see them that often, so . . . should I still give it to them when I see them maybe 1-2 months from now? It’s cash. I just didn’t want to drop it off with anyone.

I am looking for some different bridal party dance songs than the most popular obvious ones out there. Any suggestions?? I would perfer one one the slower side.

I’m newly engaged and want to do the whole thank you note thing right. I know I need to send out thank you notes for gifts I receive, but do I need to send out thank you notes for other things? Do I need to send thank you notes to the people who have agreed to be in our bridal party? When else is it appropriate or necessary to send out thank you notes?

my friend is getting married. I am part of the bridal party. and the bridal party is throwing a couple shower for the bride and groom. should I (or any guest that attends) bring a gift?

I have a serious dilemma I need some help with! I am getting married and I don’t know who to pick for my bridal party and what positions I could give to my two younger sisters and those couple friends who won’t be my bridesmaids.
I have 7 REALLY close friends that I have always hung out with (since High School and I am in college right now) but 7 bridesmaids (including the MOH) seems like A LOT. Also, my fiance can’t think of 7 groomsman to match. I really only want 5, but I want to give the other 2 girls a role in the wedding. Maybe a female usher? I’m not sure of what they do besides seat people.

Also, I really want my 2 sisters to take part in my wedding in a special way, they are ages 16 & 18. I thought of maybe they could read a special verse or two from the bible? I don’t want to give them a role like ‘guest book watcher’ or ‘gift taker’.. I want them to feel included. No junior bridesmaids though.
PLEASE HELP, ANY AND ALL ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED!
Added info: they are my stepsisters, we aren’t REALLY close but we are close like sisters would be I guess..

We provide hair and makeup on location for brides and her bridal party.

If the fee is right? Is the worst part (or best part) depending on how you look at it for the bachelor only or does it include the best man and other bridal party?

I’m clueless on men’s wear. Do lots of guys still wear tuxes to weddings (I’m talking bridal party and the groom)? I’m pretty sure the last few weddings I have been to, the men were wearing suits.

But, then again. What’s a tux. I always think it’s that ruffled shirt.

Most wedding I have been to the men wear black pants and a jacket. Usually a white shirt and then a vest and a tie. That’s a suit, right.

Anyway, I’m planning a formal evening wedding w/ a church ceremony. (ceremony at 3:30-5, reception starting at 6pm(cocktail hour) and dinner at 7pm.)

I love my guy in a classic black suit. Can I dress him (and the groomsmen) in suits and not tuxes?

I don’t know what to do for my makeup. I know there are rules about using certain make up colors in certain months and ways of doing it. It’s like using a white purse after Labor Day…unspoken rules or something similar. lol…

i thought that in a wedding there are only 2 songs.

-one song for when the flower girl,ring bearer and bridal party walks down the isle

-and one song for when the bride comes out.

are the flower girl/ring bearer supposed to have there own song and the bridal party supposed to have a whole seperate song?? that would make 3 songs

how can you have time to have so many songs for such a short walk

Let me first start by saying, I thinks its really tacky to ask for gifts ETC. I am registered at two different places for my wedding. I am not sending out the registry information with the wedding invitations ( I also find that a little tacky) they will go out with the bridal shower invites, and a link to our wedding website will go out with the Save The Dates. On our website we have lots of information about the wedding, the bridal party, hotel and airfare information, and some other cutesy things, including one page that says where we are registered with links to the stores websites.

I moved to Oklahoma with my fiance and my family lives in Michigan. If they are going to buy larger items off the registry it would be really great if they ship them to our home, because we can’t fly with mixers and meat processors.

Do you think it would be in poor taste to put on the website next to where we are registered ,our home address, and find a nice way to word it to have items shipped there. Or should I just ship them from Michigan to Oklahoma my self after the shower?? My only thought with that is, that it will start to get very expense shipping gifts back home from Michigan between two bridal showers and a wedding.

Opinions or other ideas please… thanks!

i have been to weddings where the bridesmaids all wore the same dress in the same color with the same hairdo and ive also been to a few where the bridesmaids were told they can choose whatever style they wanted as long as it was a certain color and hair/makeup was up to them as well. whats ur thoughts on it?

those married or engaged: would/did u let the bridal party wear any style they wanted as far as dress and hairstyle are concerned or did u pick everything out for them and have it all the same?

i personally think there pro’s and cons to both…if u let the bridesmaids where any dress then u may have one wanting to wear a floor length ball gown and another wanting to wear a mini dress. having them all wear the same dress gives a streamlined look but if they all have different body shapes then it may be hard to find sometihng that looks elegant on all body types

My mom is geting married soon and she needs a song for the bridal party to walk down on…. she wants ava maria but we want a variety to work with…… shes african american and hes italian … so somewhere in that type of music would be lovely

I’m going to a wedding in three weeks and tomorrow the whole bridal party is going to my aunt’s salon to choose hairstyles. I’m not IN the wedding so my aunt said to just choose any. I have long black hair that goes to the middle of my back, with side swept bangs that go to the left of my face. Also, I have a round face and VERY thick hair. What should I do?

I need a song for the bridal party introduction at the reception of my wedding. I am looking for something fun! When my brother got married, he used "Good Times" by Chic. I am looking for something fun and well-known.

Our wedding is a very simply 15 minute walk down the aisle type thing. Very low key ect. Everyone except the 2 flwr girls and the 2 ringbrs have either been in/or had a wedding. The day of the wedding we are doing pictures prior to the ceremony (recpetion/ceremony/bridal suit all at one location). So after we are done pictures, the coordinator is going to do a brief run through so everyone is 100% as to what to do. Because the location is about 1hr from us, some people (ourselves) will be staying at families homes/hotels near the location. Other bridesmaid/relatvies/guests will be staying where we all basically live an hr away. So the Saturday/sunday prior my MIL is going to have everyone over and get some pizza ect. To me that isn’t really the atmosphere that I want to give my bridesmaids their gifts in. Tomorrow is my shower, and I was wondering if at anytime during; or after it is acceptable for me to give them their gifts. I got the 3 maids necklaces from Juicy, and the MOH a juicy handbag. The necklaces aren’t necessarliy ones that I want them to/or expect them to wear in the wedding. THey are all different and remind me a bit of that person. And obviously my MOH can’t wear for it. I was thinking DURING the end of the shower when I’m thanking them for all their work ect. sort of toasting (without an actual toast) for all their hardowkr. But some people told me the shwoer is only for me and to wait until after when it’s more private. So that is the other option. Qhat do you think is better?
fizzy…well i get that the general idea is not to hurt anyone because they didnt get a gift. However I think in todays society people understand that the bride/groom give gifts to the bridal party. And in general there are no hurt feelings. That really isnt a huge concern of mine. And I love them…but we went $$$ over budget and a lunch date really isnt something I can do at the moment. Especailly considering how much thier gifts cost.

We got married at a friend’s house in Jan 2005, had 1 child already, and didn’t tell family/most friends because we planned on having a church wedding/reception that Summer. Plans changed, never did, and now it’s way later, another child just born, and I told my Mom we were married.

My question revolves around if we can still have a ceremony in the church and a reception afterwards, and if so, should we tell people who don’t know that we’re already legally married? Or should we do it as a "renewal of vows" (but then we can’t have the bridal party which I really want!) I don’t even care about gifts; I just want a chance to have my wedding and celebrate with family/friends.

Anyone been here or have ideas?!
