I dont know if Im supposed to buy an engagement ring and propose to my girlfriend and then by a wedding ring, or do I buy the wedding ring, propose, and then by a wedding band for the wedding. Please help me! I really need to know!

My wife and I are replacing our wedding rings for a set together and we want something of our own as well. My wifes bridal set is my grandmothers from over 30 years ago and my wedding band is from my mother in law from 30 years ago. We would just like to get somethin of our own. By cheap I mean under 300 dollars.

is there a ‘reason’ why some people don’t wear a wedding band if they are married? i get that some people have certain jobs where they can’t, but is it just a personal preference? what is your opinion on that? i would think that someone who is married (well, probably happily married) would want to show that they are in a committed relationship, but i’ve come across many people who are in that situation but don’t. any ideas? just curious, thanks!

I’m trying to figure out what wedding band width a man prefers? The choices given to me are 3mm, 4mm, 6mm or 8mm. Do you think the smaller width is a tad bit feminine and the thicker may look too bulky? What is the normal average width for a man’s wedding band? Also. what’s the average ring size for a man?

Something I am really confused about..

I look and see engagement rings, and then I see bridal sets…

is the engagement ring supposed to be a part of the wedding band?

Or is the engagement ring completely separate from the wedding band?

I found this beautiful ring, its simple, and not too expensive that I love.

But I look at bridal sets that I like as well..

so I dunno what to do =\
So if i find an actual bridal set that I like,
and have a separate engagement ring, then that can be done?

I sound selfish, for wanting both rings I know. But Im not asking him to spend much money at all, and I just cant make up my mind between the rings.

Did anyone had their engagement ring and wedding band sautered (?)together? I have a bridal set that is hard to keep together and I could see my fiance dropping the band part before the wedding or while he’s putting it on my finger. How long does it take to have this done? Can it be done at any jeweler?

I do not wear a wedding band all of the time, but this freaks my students out. They understand why I don’t, but I would like to share other reasons with them.

I will be wearing my G’Ma’s wedding set when I get married. I am honored to have the set passed down to me. Her set has been soldered together as was practiced many moons ago. Is it inappropriate to wear my original E-ring with the wedding set on same finger?
My G’ma’s set IS going to be my wedding set. Hubby is NOT giving me a wedding band. He only gave me an E-Ring. That’s the way we wanted it to be

My fiance bought my engagement ring at Rogers and Hollands and he bought the lifetime protection plan. The wedding band I love is at Kay Jewelers but I’m concerned that if we buy that one and sodder it to my engagement ring that it will cause the Rogers and Holland protection to be invalid. Does anyone know how this works or should I just buy a band from R&H?

my fiances ex wife (divorced for 3 1/2 years) still wears her engagement ring and wedding ring.
my fiance and I went on a mini trip with his family (his son, brothers, sisters, aunt, uncles, and his parents) to Niagra Falls Canada. we came thursday and we will be here until next friday. his ex came too since he had a little boy with her (4 years old) and shes still good friends with the family.
but when all of us were at the pool yesterday i noticed her tattoo on her lower back which is my fiance’s name. i dont expect her to get rid of it because i know its probably expensive and painful but they hate eachother..and they dont talk unless its involving their son.
the next thing i saw was that shes still wearing her diamond engagement ring and her wedding band on her left ring finger. i asked him if shes with someone and hes like no those were the rings i bought her. he said its weird that she wears them but he says she loves the diamond since its 2 carat.
is this normal?
dont they usually give back eachother’s rings if they get legally divorced?

shes a good friend with his family. and its their trip really. plus she doesnt let her son go anywhere without her. we dont really have a choice if shes there or not.

I proposed to my fiancee recently and gave her an engagement ring. The ring came with a matching wedding band. She decided that she wanted to pick out matching wedding bands between us but she wanted to keep the other band that came with the ring. She went and got the rings soldered together so now she is wearing both rings. Is this okay before the wedding? We are to pick out wedding bands so that she will have a total of 3 rings on after we get married. Please give me your thoughts. Thank you.

the wedding band was silver I think white gold, I was not happy with this because we were still togther and what was funny about it it was my step daughtr who was doing this. like she was the one marrying him. I love my step dghter she lives with us and she is 24yrs with a child.

How much should I expect to pay to have my engagement ring sent out by the jeweler to get cleaned in that machine to buff the scratches out? It’s white gold and I never take it off so it’s not looking its brightest and I’d like it to get that sparkle back for the wedding pictures. There’s just too much contrast between it and my wedding band. Thanks!
I don’t need the stone out because of the setting I can clean it easily with a toothbrush. It’s just the band is looking worn.
He got it from overstock.com so I don’t think that’s an option. But thank you!

How much did your wedding band cost, and the wedding band of your husband or wife? I am not sure how much to spend on the wedding bands.. I was thinking ,000 total for both.
Um its probably going to be an eternity band (platinum) and a plain band (not sure what metail yet)

My wife’s wedding band has been getting tighter over the years. Yesterday, she did something that is making her finger swell. The wedding band won’t come off, and it’s making her arm and hand hurt. We’ve tried washing her hand in soap, but the swelling is making the ring impossible to remove.

Is there any way to remove the ring other than cutting it off?

I have an 18K gold engagement ring. Some of the wedding bands I’ve looked at only come in 14K gold. They’re also cheaper than 18K. Would anyone recommend getting a 14K wedding band to go with the 18K engagement ring? Will there be significant scratches due to the different hardnesses over time?
