Ladies: Engagement ring in front of the wedding band or behind the wedding band?

Asked by: admin Wedding Music

Any reason why that choice?
I wear mine in front of my wedding band too, but I’ve seen so many magazine pictures with the engagement ring behind the wedding band. I didn’t know if it’s a new trend or what. hehe

Wedding ring first on the finger and the engagement ring after.

Because your wedding ring is closest to your heart.

Good question! I put on my wedding band first and then my engagement ring. I’m not sure if that’s how it is supposed to be, but I’ve had it that way for 5 years!

Traditionally in English-speaking cultures, the wedding band is worn closer to the heart.

I put on my wedding ring first, then my engagement ring, then my eternity ring (small band of diamonds).

All my Greek friends do it the opposite, though: put on engagement ring first, then wedding ring. I don’t know the reason why. They say it’s traditional to do it that way in Greek culture.

I wear my engagement ring in front of my wedding band. First of all, my engagement ring has diamonds and my wedding ring doesnt have any diamonds, it’s just a gold band. Second, I got engaged first then married so I like them in that order. Quirky, but it works for me.

I will put the wedding band on first and then the engagement ring. I think its looks better that way. And with the way the ring is set up it can be sottered together that way.

My mother says that the engagement ring goes on first because it came first. My grandmother says the wedding ring goes on first because it’s closest to your heart. I wear my great-great grandmothers rings and somewhere down the line they were soldered together so they are practically one ring now. I flip mine back and forth. I mainly wear my engagement ring on the inside because the stone is so big it gets in the way sometimes when it is worn the other way. But they are both precious to me so I don’t think it really matters. Just traditions.

Wedding band is closest to your heart. also, since the engagement ring usually has the most bling, it is easier removed. When you go for surgery, hospitals will allow you to keep your wedding band on but they generally insist that someone take the bling home for safekeeping. If they are soldered together like mine are, they put gobs of tape on them to help prevent theft while you’re in lala land in recovery. When you get an anniversary or eternity band, it goes after the engagement ring . As for magazine photos, my partner is a professional photographer and he roared with laughter as he specializes in bridal/weddings. He said you would be surprised at how many models/stylists/advertisers jam the rings on the model’s hand real fast just before the photograph and don’t know the proper way. They are more concerned with losing the expensive bling that has been loaned from the jeweller!!

Personally, I put the wedding band on and then the engagement ring just because the wedding band is a little loose and the engagement ring holds it all on there. :P

I have my engagement ring first because it was given to me first, then I have my wedding band after because it was given to me second. I like the idea of "closest to your heart" though. I might just have to switch it up every now and again. Wonder if my hubby would even notice. ha! ha!

i wear my wedding ban first then my engagement ring, once i got married i was taking pictures and my mother-in-law saw my finger and rushed over to me and said that i needed to take that picture over cause i had my ring on backwards… i still don’t know which way is right, however i find myself looking at married women and their ring fingers and they wear it the same way.

Traditionally, the wedding band goes on first, with the engagement ring on top. I wear my wedding band on my left hand and my engagement ring on my right, as they are made of different metals and don’t match – besides, it gets too bulky to have two rings on the same finger.

I have always heard that the wedding band goes closer to your heart. So therefor the engagement ring is on the outside.

Why is this just directed at ladies?
    (((pouting)))
It goes behind the band, in the order the rings are received.

It is said that the wedding band…the eternal circle, should be worn on the finger leading to heart which would be the ring finger, on the left hand of course. Then the engagement ring.
