How do you rubber stamp paper napkins?

Asked by: admin Wedding Napkins

I want to personalize paper cocktail napkins for my wedding using rubber stamps. How do I go about that? What kind of ink do I use? I read somewhere you need to seal the ink with heat? How do you do that? Martha says you can stamp anything, but doesn’t give any details.

Smart idea. In fact we were going to do exactly the same thing. We had a great stamp that we had used on the outside of our invitations, and thought it would not only save money but be really cute to use the same stamp to customize our paper cocktail napkins for the reception.

The only problem was, we tried several different kinds of ink and none of them worked. They all looked really great, but as soon as they get damp ( like from drips of the condensation off of a drink glass) the ink started to run and smear. We certainly didn’t want to stain any body’s clothing or fingers.

So, we ended up going to a party supplies store and had them printed. it ended up fairly cheap, we got 500 napkins customized for under $40.

Personally, I’d find premade napkins to buy because all that work for something people are going to be throwing away seems like a waste of time to me. Even a company to personalize then would be a better option so you can spend your precious minutes before your wedding date doing something else.

All Martha ever stamped was license plates, that’s why there were no details!
