No, because its gold usually it wont be affected by water or anything and imagine how many people would lose them if they took them off everyday? Most people just take them off once in a while and clean them but leave them on all the rest of the time.

I take my engagement ring off when I do…I dont want it to go down the drain! haha Also soap tarnishes rings(used to work at a jewelry store)

I take mine off the minute I get home from work and change into my "lounge clothes" but that is just me. I don’t like to sleep in any jewelry, especially rings because my fingers swell at night so much.

for guys not usually some do but most don’t since it is just a band usually, for women i would say yes due to the multiple rocks or stones in their rings, plus debris from your bathing would get in to the crooks, crevasses.

I do. In fact, I don’t even sleep with my rings on. I like to put cream on my hands at night and don’t want it getting on My diamonds. I don’t feel comfortable sleeping with my rings.

No, my rings are platinum and I do not take them off to shower – there is no need. I do take them off when lifting weights at the gym so they don’t get scratched, and when going to the beach or pool – salt and chlorinated water can make your fingers shrink, and the last thing you want is to lose a ring in the ocean!

Well I do take off my wedding set when I shower…but I am a woman with diamonds and I don’t have time to run to jeweler to have them cleaned all the time. I don’t want the hard water and soap residue on my wedding set. But right after I dry off I do put them back on..so I guess I don’t get the jest of your question unless someone is taking off wedding ring and leaving it off.

The only time I take my ring off is when I feel like It could fall off my figure. Make sure your ring is a good fit and you shouldn’t loose it. I keep mine on in the shower but when we go to the pool or ocean I take it off.

I take it off when I get in the shower–so no soap builds up under my stone and I need to clean it less. But I don’t take it off any other time :)

I take mine off at night and put it back on after my shower in the morning. I get weird about wearing jewelry when I sleep, just a quirk of mine.

I’m not married but I think I’m going to have a hard time with a ring because my fingers are fat in the morning and a ring is too tight and in the evening the ring is falling off, and they swell up a little in the shower and when I do any vigorous physical tasks (like a long walk or a jog or whatever) :(

Some people do, some don’t. 30 years of showers, exercise, yard work, etc. and my dad’s ring still looks good as new.

I take mines off when I get home when I get into my ‘comfy’ clothes..because when I cook or shower, I don’t want to loose or damage my rings. I probably wouldn’t do it if they were gold (just because it wouldn’t damage them), but they are white gold, and so they can get scratched, etc.

I only take mine off to have it cleaned or if I’m so mad at him I’m ready to give it back. Its kinda a nice way to let him know he is on thin ice.

I don’t – although I’ve only been married 13 days. The only time I ever took off my engagement ring was to have it cleaned right before the wedding. That was the longest 36 hours in my life. I felt nekid without the ring on.

DH takes his off as soon as he gets in the door after work. He is doing lots of landscaping right now, and doesn’t want to lose it outside.

I take off my engagement ring when im going to use my hands to, cook , wash dishes, take a shower, do my hair and makeup and anytime I might get them dirty, I will do the same with my band. There is nothing wrong with keeping it on or taking it off as long as u put it right back on once u r done. I just like to keep mine clean and xtra sparkly, I also clean it frequently to ensure it stays sparkly ( I have a little spray thing for jewelry so it doesnt take long) : )

I used to sell jewelry when I was in college.
Your fine jewelry should be the first thing you take off, and the last thing when you put on.

No. The only time I take mine off is when I’m kneading dough or mixing ground meat, for example. Gold, diamond/gemstone rings aren’t bothered by getting wet!

I never take mine off; all my rings stay on all the time, even in the shower. It doesn’t bother me. My husband doesn’t wear his, he doesn’t like jewelry and he works with electronics.

married people do take off their wedding bands to have a vow renewal, i never heard of taking them off for a shower. They are made to last a lifetime and then some, i don’t think soap and water will damage them.I did see a wedding company on Florida performing a vow renewal, call and ask them how they do vow renewals at http://www.ultimatebeachweddings.com

I take mine off when i get home from work. And a lot of times when i am just working on things around the house i only wear my band. I dont want something to happen to the rock.
Suggestion… Take it off before the beach. I didnt lose mine, but 2 weeks ago we were on the beach playing football and it hit my husbands hand just the right way and off it went. He only had it for 7 months too! Just be careful!

I only have an engagment ring right now but I take it off to shower and sleep. Mostly cause I am used to not sleeping with rings and mine is kind of dangerous lol….

I have a feeling once we’re married and I get the rings fused together I will just keep them on and try to remember to get them cleaned every once and awhile.

My fiance doesnt care that I take it off. I wear it everywhere else, just not those two places right now.

My husband never takes his ring off. However, I take my rings off as soon as I get home, and put them in my jewelry box. I am so accident prone, that I just know I will lose them or mess them up. Plus, I don’t wear any jewelry around the house. It’s just not comfortable to me when I’m just lounging around.

I never took off my engagement ring untill it had to get resize. lol i didnt wanna take it off. i wore it for a whole year and a half, I finaly got it size from a 7 to a 6 last week, boy was it dirty now it’s clean and sparkly. i won’t take it off again untill the 6 months inspection.

So no you don’t have to take it off when you shower.

    I will.
My intended wedding band is fairly wide so I will take it off at night, when I wash dishes, and when I shower.

I take my engagement ring off when I shower and go to bed…and I’m sure I will with my wedding band also. I don’t like wearing jewelry in the shower especially because whenever any of my rings get wet they slip off my fingers really easily. I also take them off every time I put on lotion then put them on afterward.

I am married and I’ve never taken my wedding rings off! My husband on the other hand, plays with it when he’s bored by taking it on and off his finger and spinning it on the table. LOL. But he never takes it off otherwise.

I’d say NO to taking your wedding rings off in the shower.

Also, you wouldn’t want it to fall down the drain!

I take off my ring to shower, sleep, do housework. I don’t want it to get damaged, so that’s my way of trying to protect it. My husband on the other hand rarely wears his ring because of the type of job he does.

I do, but my husband doesn’t.

I choose to take it off because I don’t like soap to get into it and look foggy. If I didn’t I would probably clean it like everyday!

My husband doesn’t, but his is stainless steel and has only a small diamond.

I always put them in my jewelry box when I’m in the shower and before I go to bed. I don’t like the feel of jewelry going through my hair, and then having to clean my rings to get the shampoo out and stuff. Also, I hate sleeping with my rings on, because my diamond usually scratches my face or gets caught in my hair.

I take my engagement ring off whenever I’m gardening, cooking, bathing or sleeping…the wedding ring will be taken off with it when it’s added this August. It gets in the way. I’ve never worn any hand jewelry for these activities so I don’t see why I should start now!
