What are cool ideas for bridesmaid gifts?
We were thinking ipods but most of the bridal party already has those. Jewelry seems obvious but they probably won’t get a lot of mileage out of them. What are some good, original ideas?
Thanks for your help!
I really really like these gift ideas from Fortnum & Mason (but I’m a huge tea junkie too)

Maybe you could do a gift basket like one of these on your own. Maybe you can invite them all over for afternoon tea and enjoy some lady time together and then give them all tea-related gift baskets.
Or I really like their champagne basket. A lot of people give out gifts at the rehearsal dinner, and i think sometimes that just doesn’t say thank you enough. Maybe invite all the girls over for cocktails and give them a romantic evening gift box filled with a bottle of champagne and chocolate and grapes and cheese.
Or maybe don’t give them all the same gift? Celebrate their individual personalities. Hand write a thank you note to each of them. Think of one personality trait that you think defines them as a good friend. maybe Grace, Imagination, Creativity, Honesty, Humor, Charm, Kindness and then think of a gift that reflects that trait. Maybe an interesting vase or art print for Creative. Tickets to a comedy club or show for a witty humourous friend. Maybe some somewhat rare or interesting plant for the unique quirky personality. Some type of silver serving piece or pitcher or something that exudes grace for the Graceful friend. Don’t be afraid to get creative, and your party will be touched that it isn’t just some piece of jewelery that you picked for them that they will only wear once. Remember what they say about gifts: its the thought that counts, so take some time to make it special!
personalized engraved wallets
maybe a cute little box of cake that has their pic on it!
Things that fit their personalities: sports tickets, jerseys, ballet tickets, concert tickets, margarita machine, cooking classes, sky diving gift certificate, monogrammed beach towels – anything that is personal and unique and they will love.
My fiance and I designed a necklace for the BM but I also got them gifts since I don’t consider the necklace to be anything useful. I got mine various classes, tickets and gift items related to their hobbies.
Good luck!
A spa day would be great, a way for some girl bonding and the gift of pampering. Nothing beats that : )
Since ipods are pretty expensive, you could get spa gift certificates for each person, or perhaps an overnight stay at a local resort or casino. Or if you know particular interests of each person you could buy a stock (since stocks are at exceptionally low prices right now) (like if someone loves Coca Cola or Pepsi – buy them some stock in that company – or if someone is a sports fan of a particular team – buy them some stock in that team). Good luck and God Bless your marriage.
How about a ship cruise and the ticket? that would be perfect i think. or is it too original?
Something personalized. Compact mirrors that you can get their named envraved on?
Gift certificates for a spa treatment, facial, massage, or pedicure, etc., placed in a gift bag with some of your favorite lotions, scrubs, candles.
I like giving photo frames when I have no idea what to give. You could do digital frames along with a small scrap book and scrap booking supplies in a gift bag.
If you like the ipod idea, why not give gift cards for music downloads, tickets to a concert, and pre-concert dinner?
I am giving my bridesmaids a lavender scented bar of soap with their name on it, a small photo album, a pair of flip-flops to wear during the wedding dance, and a cute little wedding cake candle lol
You’re right to avoid jewelry – every frequent bridesmaid has a box full of jewelry that’s too out of date and trendy to wear, too expensive to throw out, and of too little intrinsic worth to resell.
Instead of buying identical gifts for every bridesmaid, you may wish instead to give something individual to each person. For instance, a bridesmaid who is conspicuously girly might appreciate a spa certificate, while a bridesmaid who has sensitive skin or allergies might prefer a gift certificate to a local bookstore, and someone coming in from overseas might instead want something small that can tuck into a suitcase.
Edit to add: Please, do not automatically go out and arrange a spa day unless you are absolutely sure all your bridesmaids are comfortable with it. Many people don’t like spas (shock! horror!) and others, people like me with severe allergies, can’t have one because spas shove fragrance and soy and all kinds of major allergens into every single thing they use – and they won’t tell you in advance, even if you ask. Nothing like having to have a tracheotomy because a spa worker with a Grade 10 education thought "allergy" meant "tiny bit of sniffles" and not "dying of a throat obstruction".
iTunes gift cards
pajamas
bottle of liquor
gift card for a salon
Most women who have been bridesmaids in the past say to stay away from jewelry because it is intended to be worn at the wedding, which is not a gift to them. Also, it’s usually something that is to the bride’s taste and their individual tastes are not taken into consideration at all so it becomes a waste of money for a one-time use.
The best idea is to pick something that fits each girl’s personal interests. What type of thing is each girl into?
I have a friend who is a makeup artist for Mary Kay. She had all of the girls come in to have their makeup done prior to the wedding to make sure the colors and everything looked good. I secretly bought all of the makeup that each girl wore, and then surprised them with it all.
I have thought about this for a while, I wanted something special for my girls I have three bridesmaids. I have put together a package for each girl with a clutch http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?itemdescription=true&itemCount=60&id=15843709&parentid=W_ACC_BAGS&sortProperties=price&navCount=24&navAction=poppushpush&color=50 I bought one of each so they will not be duplicates, it works out because the linings match the girls favorite colors
Inside that I tucked a personalized compact mirror http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_601849_-1_1?fcref=giftscom601849&srccode=cii_5217346&cpncode=23-33261140-2
I found mine at a kiosk in the mall but something like this
and pashmina scarves also different to reflect the girls tastes
You can also put together packages based on your wedding, like if it is a beach wedding have flip flops and sunglasses, things that can be used at the wedding and after. Think of things you use on a regular basis that are practical but a bit of fun
Body Wash, A little gift Box ( to put there small treasures in)
A pretty picture Frame, Scented Candles, . But how about this?? Instead of giving them all the same thing give them different stuff!! Depending on the person! maybe you have a bridesmaid who loves to read?? give her a Gift Card to a book store. Or instead Have all of you go to the Mall and go to the food court and eat!! there are so many Idea’s but i think you should EXPLORE! or give them each a gift Basket.
Say with a Gift Card a Book And something else maybe?
But remember it is your wedding and you should have it just the way you want it to be.
