What do you think of sky blue and yellow for bridesmaids dresses?

(That’s some bridesmaids in yellow and others in sky blue, not dresses that are both colors)

It looks beautiful and summery-I know because when I first married in 1974, that is exactly what I did….

Colorwise blue and yellow DO complement each other very, very well….ask any one with training in the visual arts, especially those who paint in oils, acrylics and watercolors.
The color combo has a fresh, clean, sunny look and with the white of the brides’ gown it all comes together nicely.

I found a beautiful soft rose print dress that complemented my gown for my girls….my MOH and my flower girl wore the sky blue rose print, my maids and my jr bride’s maid wore the soft yellow rose print….all the guys wore sky blue tuxes, with pale yellow shirts (the groom wore a white shirt) The tuxes had black trousers and were long jackets in a modern edwardian style with a light ruffling on the shirt front (this was 1974 so ruffles on tuxedo shirts were the ‘thing’.)

Since my dress and theirs was a modern interpretation of a southern antebellum ball gown, we all wore matching to our dresses picture hats and the maids also carried matching parasols.

It looked lovely and I still get complements from those who attended..and that was over 30 years ago.

I think, yuck. Sorry I dont like bridesmaids in two different colors, it is not uniform and sleek. Plus the bright colors are fun, but not very elegant. Also sky blue or yellow washes me out, I dont know many people that can wear those colors successfully.

Stick to one color. Otherwise, you will look like Easter.

I went with "pool" blue from Davids Bridal for my girls and they looked gorgeous! They received so many compliments and that burst of color looked amazing outside in photos and in general. Not boring at all! And wasn’t too bright either!

I don’t think that those colors go well together unless the blue is cornflower blue and the yellow is very pale. Sorry!

If you are really set on these two colors, tie them together some how. Yellow sash on the blue dresses and blue sash on the yellow dresses. Flowers with yellow and blue combination with ribbon in yellow and blue to match the dress sashes. http://www.mypersonalartist.com/blog/2009/12/28/ice-blue-coral-and-buttercup-yellow-wedding-colors/
If you google "sky blue and yellow weddings" , there are tons of great ideas!

Choose one color for the dresses and the other color for a sash or something it might look awkward if you have it mix match like that lol Good luck

I think the colors sounds lovely. I guess it would depend on what color flowers you had or who/how many bridesmaids are wearing which color. Would it be half and half? What about the MOH?

Oh, and would the groomsmen be matched accordingly? Would you have some groomsmen wearing yellow vest/tie, some wearing sky blue vest/tie?

I’m not sure if I’d like it though, for example, if you had 4 attendants (or any even number) 2 in yellow dresses and 2 sky blue dresses. But if you had 5 attendants (or any odd number), 3 in yellow and 2 in sky blue…you could alternate the order in which they walk in, stand and sit. That would be nice.

Would they all be carrying the same color bouquet? Or would the flower colors alternate too?

…but I don’t know. It’s sounds not simple. Especially then getting the groomsmen to alternate and match. And how do you decide which girl gets to wear which color?

I imagine if you had the bridesmaids in sky blue with a yellow sash and the MOH in yellow with a sky blue sash (or visa versa) that might work better. (or without the sash I guess if you don’t like it. But that would help tie it all together so it wouldn’t look like one girl was wearing a random dress color while the other attendants all match).

I think I would personally prefer it if they all wore sky blue dresses and carried yellow flowers. Or yellow dresses with blue flowers (but there’s not as many blue flowers that I like, so I’d go with blue dress and yellow flowers). And that way, there is still yellow and sky blue present.
